The Insulation and Building Treatment Apprenticeship is intended to provide a recognised qualification for people working in and around the insulation industry. You can choose from four different pathways either Border, Finisher, Loft or Cavity.
Eligibility & Funding

This Intermediate qualification will usually take 12 months to complete.
What does this Apprenticeship cover?
The Apprenticeship framework consists of three key parts: Competence based element; Technical element and Skills element. There is also the opportunity, if appropriate, to include literacy and numeracy functional skills.
Units covered include:
Workplace Health and Safety, Moving, handling and storing resources, Productive work practices, Principles of installing external wall insulation and installing external wall insulation.
Workplace Health and Safety, Moving, handling and storing resources, Productive work practices, Principles of applying surface finishes to external wall insulation and applying surface finishes to external wall insulation.
Units covered include: Loft: Workplace Health and Safety, Moving, handling and storing resources, Productive work practices, Installing loft insulation and erecting and dismantling access, working platforms.
Workplace Health and Safety, Moving, handling and storing resources, Productive work practices, Installing cavity wall insulation and erecting and dismantling access/working platforms.
Types of jobs you could move into
On completion of the Intermediate Level Apprenticeship candidates will be knowledgeable and competent in the installation of external wall insulation, loft or cavity depending on their pathway choice. This will allow them to progress into a team leader or site supervisor role covering external wall insulation and able to support less qualified and experienced staff in this field.

How is the training delivered?
Candidates will be visited every 6 to 8 weeks in the workplace by an Assessor who offers support to both the candidate and employer for the duration of the programme.
