Junior Energy Management Apprenticeship

Due to the rise of the cost of energy the UK will become one of the most competitive market places for energy management skills over the next 5 to 7 years. There is a major shortage of trained energy managers. This apprenticeship will help to address the need for basic in-house energy management skills which can benefit your organisation and lead to long term savings for companies. Energy managers can come from all types of companies and industries, including hospitality, leisure, retail, banking, manufacturing, construction and property.

Qualifications included

On successful completion of this programme individuals will receive:

  • Junior Energy Manager Apprenticeship at Level 3

  • Level 2 Functional Skills, English (If required)

  • Level 2 Functional Skills, Maths (If required)

  • Membership of an Energy Management Professional Body

Location and duration of training

This training programme will be delivered on your company site and can take up to 24 months to complete.

Course Content

This Apprenticeship offers a balance of technical training and on the job assessments to match your employers needs and requirements.

Knowledge and Assessment units include:

  • How energy flows in an out of buildings, equipment and processes and how key energy systems operate.

  • Test and maintain procedures of equipment and processes used to determine energy performance and how inefficiencies arise and how to improve energy performance.

  • Understand the principles of energy loss assessment.

  • Relevant level of theory and practices that underpin the energy efficient use of equipment, processes and IT systems.

End Point Assessment (EPA)

The End Point Assessment is split into three sections:

  • Knowledge Assessment – multiple choice or short answers questions which will be sat under invigilated conditions.

  • Practical Assessment – Energy Audit carried out by the Apprentice under controlled conditions.

  • Professional Discussion/Interview – including knowledge assessment, practical assessment and appraisal of portfolio of evidence.
